Once upon a time, there was a boy named "Jeong". On the night before his very first ODAC March Expedition in his very life, he just happened to watch "Vertical Limit" on Star Movies at 7pm to 8.30pm.. That movie just made him feel from this =)

YEAHHH!!! xD

CJC Cross Country '09!!!

Finally.. first time in my years in CJC doing this since last year one cancelled by renovations and repairs in Macritchie..

Becoz' I retain in CJC so I'm considered as J1 for cross country. A bit cheat-cheat and unfair to this year's batch..

As predicted, since reporting time was at 3pm in Macritchie, everybody all "last min" leave sch around 2+pm to go Macritchie. So bus stop packed even worse than a can of sardines.. Eventually gave up on the idea of waiting for bus 132 and 156 and decided to walk there. (About 6 bus stops away..)

Wasnt really hard to remember how to walk there since ODAC did abt 10km jog frm CJC-to-Macritchie-and-back-to-CJC last Wed.. Reached around 3.10pm so by then got many CJ-cians there alr. Didnt wear my race tag coz' I wanted to see who is J1 / J2 and if they looked like tough competition.. Game Plan: Aim for Top 30. Finish it below 25min, if better then 21min. Seemed a bit tough since I lost my running ability as soon as promos ended last year when everything spiraled downwards.

Flag off after girls then heart start thumpinglike madddd.. (2 hrs before my body like stressed.. Suddenly blocked-nose etc.. scary sia.) Got caught in the bottleneck about 2m behind the start line..

Once the blowhorn sounded, it's like mad chionging for a while till reach the forest trail for Macritchie. There then everything start going blur. Running and overtaking and running and overtaking and running and overtaking... See alot of my friends, cheer on etc.

Got a few times I wanted to stop but tell myself that I can still push and that I'm running for ODAC and all my friends and myself. So since my running ability wasn't really there, I couldnt really go faster than last year when I was at my "peak"..

Reached the road then the toll started to take effect.. Legs started to tire and toes started to numb.. Cleared abt 1/2way then I suddenly heard Kian How's voice saying,

"Go Jeong!"

1st thought: Crap... not fast enough..

Cheered Kian How also as he overtake me.. Wah this feeling really sian coz' KH very fast when I just entered CJC last year.. Then cont'd all the way until Charmaine suddenly shouting smth when I reaching the entrance leading to Macritchie.. (Competitive Girls' flag-off time is 10mins earlier so naturally Charmaine, the runner she herself is, finished already and still got time jog back outside and cheer others) =D

Only heard "Jeong! Hurry up! The ending is *blah blah.. never catch what she heard* "

Since it wasnt clear, I thought the ending would be like the one at MSHS where it finishes near the carpark. Then I saw Kenneth!!! OMG! Then I saw the finishing line not very far away.. Much lesser distance in comparison to MSHS! Like the finish line was on the descending slope.. Wahz! Shit!!! Then 'pia' with the remaining energy I had.. Kenneth still overtook me.. =(

Then I almost ran into J2s' finishing lane.. Haha. Took a split-second to switch to J1s' lane then I got the no. tag...

It. Was. Number. 24!~

Then I happy yet sad at the same time.. Happy with minimum clearance as Top 30 but disappointed because if I pushed just a little bit more knowing that the finishing line was so much closer, if I fully heard what Charmaine shouted out.. I could have changed this outcome.. =S

Then after that cope like 3 small cups of Milo then started waiting for ppl to finish and at the same time ask how they did for Cross Country. I'm damn proud of ODAC because they all got majority of the Top 20 positions (from 4th place onwards) including the girls!!! Then the J1 guys like Xuan Yu, Rui Zhi, Kenneth, Jared, Tao Yee etc all got top 20 position also! I'm also damn proud of Kenneth!!! Ex-ODAC, now Robotics and also got 40+ izzit? (correct me if I got the no. wrong) which is damn fast considering the other J2s.. (Bring glory to Robotics CCA! =P) I'm also proud of Chin Seng, my current classmate which got 4th place for J1.. He is a natural running talent. Got too many things to say lah.. After that got quick dismissal coz' lightning warning came up. Settled some ODAC Cross Country stuff in sch then go dinner.

Next day, prize presentation. Damn proud of everyone who received prizes. Like I was probably one of the few 'J1s' who clap loud-loud. Paiseh haha. But they said the J1s top 17 - 20th position ppl all not present.. Only when everybody left after prize presentation and assembly in the morning then my classmate suddenly told me I was the Top 20th in J1 competitive boys. Then my expression changed from puzzled to confused then surprised.. I then chiong down to P.E. office and saw smth like..

(position 20) (race tag no. 324), (my name) , (my timing)

in the table.. Then I was like WTF for quite a while.. Then ran back up and down to find P.E. teacher abt the positions.. Turned out that around the 16th to 20th position all kena confused because some ppl who recorded the timings never see some ppl's race tag no. So I wasnt the only one who didnt received and knew we won top 20 positions. P.E. Dept. now trying to clarify problems..

Would be good if I still stayed as Top 20th.. then got trophy to remember.. Haha. If dont have also nevermind.. Journey more impt than the destination but both are still impt. Next year may be a lot more tougher coz' the ppl this year who joined Track 'n' Field and probably some from Canoeing are gonna be better than where they currently stand. Now's that's going to be tough to beat next year.. Must jiayou! =P
